IFS, the publisher of business management solutions, announces that Songa Offshore, a global provider specialized in oil drilling, has chosen to implement IFS IoT Business ConnectorTM to collect and use data IoT (Internet of Things) resulting from the connected equipment from its oil platforms in the application suite, IFS ApplicationsTM.
Songa Offshore is an international provider specialized in oil drilling. The group is strongly present in the basin of the North Atlantic with a fleet of seven platforms, semi-submersible. For this type of business, the management and maintenance of the assets is a top priority in the measure where the time stops have a direct impact on their overall results. In order to optimize the management of the performance of its equipment on four of its platforms, Songa Offshore has connected on each of them 600 active, with sensors, IoT (Internet-of-Things) that will collect and use data and indicators related to their use.
“We realized that relying on technology, IoT was a fantastic policy lever to reduce the time dedicated to manual data entry, but also to automate our processes multifunctional and transforming raw data into business data to improve our analysis and forecasts,” says Mark Bessel, Chief Operating Officer of Songa Offshore.
To maximize the efficiency of its maintenance and making operational the data IoT in the following ERP IFS Applications, Songa Offshore has implemented the solution IFS IoT Business Connector. In a first step, the solution has been deployed for use in diesel engines and electric the most critical equipping its drilling platforms.
IFS IoT Business Connector allows you to Songa Offshore to exploit real-time data of the equipment connected in IFS Applications and to better plan and optimize their maintenance. More importantly, the solution is a vital element of the strategy “Class on location” from Songa Offshore to know and learn the state of a platform. With the increasing level of automation, the objective of Songa Offshore is to reduce the durations of projects on the platforms and therefore reduce the associated costs while significantly reducing unplanned downtime on each system with a better control of the condition of the equipment. This results in an improvement of asset reliability, longer times between maintenance intervals, longer equipment life and reduction of costs thanks to the increasing automation of business processes.
Previously, teams of Songa Offshore registered manually all data related to the assets in the system maintenance. With the solution in IoT, these data are now automatically available in the ERP, which allows a gain of time and better quality data. The next step will be to extend the reach of IFS IoT Business Connector to connect even more equipment and expand the capacity of those already connected to, and in réinstrallant including sensors on existing equipment. The goal is to maximize the reliability of the equipment and the performance of the company.
“The implementation of the solution IoT IFS is going to bring significant improvements in terms of asset reliability, business performance and cost reduction,” says Vardans Saribekjans, Senior Technician of Songa Offshore. “By using the data from the sensors in IFS Applications, we can act much more quickly to respond to business needs and requirements and even be able to perform predictive maintenance in order to prevent the defects and technical incidents before they occur. ”
Dan Matthew, Chief Technology Officer of IFS : “Songa Offshore is a great example that shows how a company whose business requires a large number of facilities can take advantage of IFS IoT Business Connector. By connecting all of its data flow and the operator in IFS Applications, the group can transform into concrete action and genuine maintenance plan is optimized. ”
