Start-ups rose in February, but less than in January

The creations of companies have slightly increased 0.5% in February, after rising 2.7% in January, supported by the creation of companies that compensate a decline of the micro-businesses, announced on Wednesday, march 14, Insee.

The creations of companies have rebounded by 1.5% (after a decline of 0.5% in January, while registrations of micro-entrepreneurs (e.g. self-employed) fell by 0.9% (against an increase of 7.3% a month ago), stated the institute in a press release.

The cumulative number, in raw data, of businesses created in the last 12 months “continued to accelerate”, recording an increase of 9.5%, after 7.7% in January and 6.7% in December. More particularly, it is the activities of the councils for business and other management boards that have experienced the highest increase (+11.500 in the last 12 months).

In February, in raw data, the share of requests for registrations of micro-entrepreneurs in the total of companies created in the last 12 months goes up for the fourth consecutive month and reached 41.6 percent, said Insee.
