Safran Electronics & Defense has signed a contract for the supply of 18 new sights optronic STRIX with the Organisation for Joint Armaments Cooperation (OCCAR) in the framework of the programme Tiger. This range of complementary equipment is part of the Law of Military Programming 2014-2019 updated, providing France with a fleet of homogeneous 67 Tiger HAD (Helicopter Support Destruction).
Equipment major weapons system of the Tiger HAD, the STRIX is at the heart of the success of all of its military missions, including reconnaissance, escort, protection, support and destruction of the devices adverse.
Developed and produced by Safran, the viewfinder Strix Tiger HAD is a system gyrostabilisé incorporating a thermal imager, a TV camera and a laser designator. With high efficiency, it allows the employment of day or night the whole of the armaments of the Tiger HAD, including the laser-guided missiles Hellfire, rocket accuracy metric and the missiles Spike.
Mobilizing multiple institutions and Saffron Electronics & Defense, production of the new band STRIX will continue beyond 2020. The maintenance in operational condition of these new cameras is part of a global contract multi-year notified by the end of 2016 by OCCAR to Saffron to all of the sights of the Tiger european (Germany, Spain, France).
Within the Light Aviation of the French Army, the STRIX has been used on the Tiger on a daily basis in the fighting since 2009 on the theaters to the most severe, from a base at land or buildings of projection and command (BPC) of the National Marine.
