Yann Padova, 50 years, is an internationally recognised specialist in the law of digital networks, personal data and the regulatory law. He has accompanied many companies on complex projects, integrating information technology (compliance in the field of big data, the ethics of algorithms, data governance, profiling, procedures for e-discovery, etc). He has also advised executives of major companies on risk assessment related to the issues of new technologies, especially in the eyes of those introduced by the european regulation on data protection (RGPD), which will enter into force in may 2018. He has also brought his expertise to large groups on issues of cyber crime which are becoming increasingly important.

Prior to joining Baker McKenzie, Yann Padova was a member of a regulatory authority of the sector (2015-2017), where he has been appointed by the President of the national Assembly because of his expertise in the field of personal data. He had worked previously with Baker McKenzie Paris as Senior Counsel within the team ICT (2012-2015). He has been for 6 years, the Secretary general of the CNIL (2006-2012). He began his career as a Director of the national Assembly (1995-2006) where he specialized in the law of personal data, criminal law and criminal procedure.

Admitted to the Paris bar in 2013, Yann Padova is a graduate of Sciences Po Paris and University Paris IV Sorbonne. He also holds a Master’s 2 degree in Public Law-Depth of the University of Toulouse II and a mphil in economics from Sciences Po Paris.

He has published numerous articles on data protection in international journals, especially in the Columbia Law Review or in the Oxford International Data Privacy Law review.

Yann Padova will be appointed a Partner from its re-bar, which is underway and expected in the days following his arrival.
