LUXEMBOURG, MAY 15, 2017 — SES (Euronext Paris and Luxembourg stock Exchange : USGE) has announced that the satellite, SES-10 is now fully operational to 67 degrees west and will serve the burgeoning markets of Latin America.

ITS-10 was launched on march 30, 2017 from the Kennedy space center of NASA in Florida, aboard a rocket “recycled” Falcon 9 of SpaceX. The satellite is the first commercial satellite geostationary to be launched on a rocket of which the first floor has already stolen.

Since the launch, a battery of tests in orbit, has confirmed the perfect functioning of the satellite.

ITS-10 was built by Airbus Defence and Space and is based on the Eurostar E3000 platform. The satellite, which will carry out several missions, is the first satellite of ITS fully dedicated to provide services to Latin America and has a payload in the Ku-band of 55 transponders equivalent to 36MHz, which 27 additional. The beams of high power in the satellite, SES-10 will increase the capacity of ITS throughout the region and provide services of direct broadcasting by satellite, corporate and mobility in Mexico, central America, South America and the Caribbean.

In the framework of an agreement with the andean Community (Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru), the satellite will operate as the ” Simón Bolivar 2 “, providing satellite capacity for each member State. The project andean satellite emanates from the interest of member States to have a satellite network common to take advantage of spectrum resources for andean to 67 degrees west.
