In four decades, the CNIL has become “a recognized brand,” says its president, Isabelle Falque-Pierrotin, which is evidenced by the record number of complaints registered by the organization in 2017 (8 360 in total) and attendance unsurpassed of its Internet site. “The significant increase in the number of complaints for the last three or four years illustrates both the increasing digitization of our societies and the need expressed by the private players and public a greater understanding of these issues. In this regard, the CNIL is identified as a person of trust, ” believes the leader of the institution.
