Connectivity is enriched by the Tour de France 2017 thanks to team Orange
For more than 20 years, Orange puts at the disposal of the large loop, the best technology. Once again, the teams Orange and struggle for every step, tailor-made solutions in order to ensure the good functioning of the race and its dissemination in the media.
To meet this challenge, 40 technicians and experts are engaged night and day throughout the competition to ensure the transport, installation, commissioning and maintenance of infrastructure.

This year, new features are deployed
13 mobile sites strengthened to provide 4G connectivity to 100% of the towns in france – 21 cities on the Tour de France in 2017.
1 4G antenna installed permanently in the Board of Beautiful Girls (between the Haute-Saône and the Territory of Belfort).
3G coverage/4G accelerated about 250 communes in a field of 10km around the plot.
8 wifi networks deployed on each of the Tour de France village, with a dozen antennas and a flow rate equivalent to 20 MB/s.
3 fibre-optic installed for the camera in the nave of the Grand Palais in Paris.
The video surveillance 24/24 on every Tour de France village : between 4 and 6 cameras, fiber the camera up to the PC, a joystick, image capture, snapshot storage and PC security are managed by Orange.
For the 1st time, an experiment of simultaneous translation in English, in the press room.
New challenges are identified
Step Marseilles : the departure and the arrival of this time trial will take place in the grounds of the legendary Orange Velodrome. A first for the Tour de France since 1978. A return time of day the first vocation of the Orange Velodrome.
A dramatic finish at the foot of the ramparts to Longwy ; to the top of the mountains, at 1600 meters of altitude to Peyragudes, in the Pyrenees ; or even to more than 2000 meters to the Izoard in the Alps. A Peyragudes : 14 km of optical fiber are drawn with 2 years of advance on the program.

From the portal http://tourdefrance.sports.orange.fr/ Orange offers a device for lovers of cycling, allowing them to experience the stages of the Tour de France live : the journey to 2017, the live video of the Tour with francetvsport official broadcaster -the best videos of the event (summaries of the races, analyses of the stages, the landscapes of the day…), all the steps commented in the live rankings updated of the different shirts, slide shows with the pictures of the day, etc
Orange has developed, in partnership with A. S. O Amaury Sport Organisation, the official app Tour de France 2016, that each one may find the best of the Tour de France on its smartphone and tablet (iOS and Android).
The cycling fans will be able to view all the information in real time, with a follow-up interactive and enriched in the race, the gaps between the runners, and the classifications of different shirts. A notification system is also available to keep them informed fans of the Tour.
