The entrepreneur Elon Musk announced on Thursday that the proposed high-speed train that would connect New York to Washington in 29 minutes only received the verbal agreement of the government, saying it was “optimistic” about a formal agreement, which could occur “quickly”.
The business man, the founder of the car company Tesla and the aeronautical company SpaceX, said in a tweet, that the agreement had been given to the Boring Company, a company specializing in the digging of the tunnel, which he also created.
“Just received the assent of the meeting of the government for the Boring Company to build a Hyperloop underground NY-Phil-Balt-DC. NY-DC in 29 minutes”, tweeted the billionaire on his Twitter account, using the abbreviations for New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, the federal capital. Approximately 330 kilometres from New York to Washington.
Requested, the us department of Transportation has returned to a spokesperson for the White House, which has not confirmed the agreement.
“We’ve had promising discussions up here,” said the spokesman, “and are determined to carry out infrastructure projects transformants and we believe that the best solutions often come from the ingenuity and energy of the private sector.”
Contacted by AFP, the company is The Boring Company has not immediately responded. Elon Musk is not directly involved in the realization of tunnels, through his company The Boring Company. The trains, themselves, are developed by other companies, without shareholder relationship with him.

Several companies have positioned themselves on this market. In April, The Northeast Maglev, a u.s. company, has presented a project similar to the one discussed on Thursday by Elon Musk. She collaborates with the company’s rail japan JR Central, which has developed the technology called “Scmaglev”, for Superconducting Magnetic Levitation, and is currently testing a new train levitation electromagnetic to connect Tokyo to Osaka at a speed of 500 km/hour.
Contacted by AFP, The Northeast Maglev has not immediately responded.
This company does not use the name Hyperloop, unlike Hyperloop One and Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HTT), which also develop their own projects of maglev.
In other tweets posted on Thursday, Elon Musk evokes the creation of a very high-speed link between Los Angeles and San Francisco as well as a line that connects several cities in Texas. He also cites the tunnel currently under construction to reduce congestion in Los Angeles.
