The PSA Group, and SC Uzavtosanoat have decided to create a joint venture, owned in equal parts – Uzbekistan.PCA. This partnership aims to build a production plant in the industrial free zone of Jizzakh, which is located 200 km from Tashkent, in Uzbekistan, in order to produce VUL Peugeot and Citroën, both in the form of personal vehicles for the transport of goods. The capital of the new joint venture is approximately € 30 million, subscribed equally by the two partners. The total investment amounts to 130 million euros.
PSA group will bring in the new technologies, intellectual property, will participate to the implementation of a process of modern production and to the training of employees. The plant will apply modern systems of the Group in terms of production, quality, purchasing, supply and sales. The joint venture also provides that at least 50% of parts be locally produced in the first year of production, attracting local manufacturers of components – 30 large plants owned by SC Uzavtosanoat and more than 160 small and medium-sized enterprises.
The production capacity is planned to reach up to 16 000 vehicles per year and the vehicles will be sold in Uzbekistan or exported to foreign countries.
With a population of over 32 million inhabitants, Uzbekistan has a huge potential of development in the field of industrial production and growth in the automotive market.
