In France, six new facilities have received eggs and fipronil

The French ministry of Agriculture announced Monday, August 14, have identified six new processing plants and 40 wholesalers who have received in France, of eggs contaminated with the insecticide fipronil, in the heart of a scandal health.

This new balance bears to 14 the number of establishments processing eggs or egg products affected by this contamination linked to products originating from Belgium or the netherlands. In total, to date, they have received 1,947 million eggs, and 109 tons of egg products.

They are located in the departments of Maine-et-Loire, Morbihan, Moselle, Nord, Pas-de-Calais, Haut-Rhin, Vendée and Vienne. These facilities are in addition to the two fitness centres that have received 478.204 eggs. It should be added 45,4 tons of egg products received by 40 wholesalers French.

250.000 contaminated eggs, and eaten in France ?

Nearly 250,000 eggs contaminated with fipronil could have been consumed by the French in the last few days, and may still be found in their refrigerator, said Friday the minister of Agriculture, stating, however, that there is no risk to health.

According to the national Agency of health security (Anses), an adult, including pregnant women, should not consume more than 10 contaminated eggs per day. For children 1 to 3 years, it is one egg per day, according to the scenarios the most protective.
