REDWOOD CITY, Calif. June 14, 2017 Equinix, Inc. (Nasdaq : EQIX), a global provider of interconnection and data centres, announces a collaboration with the division cloud computing group Alibaba. This partnership will offer companies a direct access to the services of Alibaba Cloud via Cloud Exchange, and has been since the centers for International Business Exchange (IBX®) of Equinix in Hong Kong, Silicon Valley, Sydney, and Washington, D. C. other centres should soon be added to this list (Frankfurt and London).
The cloud computing market continues to expand rapidly in Asia. This is particularly the case in China, where it is expected to register an annual growth of 40 % until 2020 to reach the value of $ 20 billion according to the international trade administration of the United States. Access to Alibaba Cloud is a critical element for multinationals looking to deploy their cloud-based applications in this rapidly growing region to be securely and efficiently. In total, the direct access to Alibaba Cloud on the Cloud Exchange is now extended to 6 markets in the regions Asia/Pacific, EMEA and the americas. Equinix was already the access to this service through its center, IBX, Singapore. The company has also recently announced that Alibaba Cloud took advantage of its web hosting services to Sydney and Dubai with Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company PJSC (du).
