The first phase of the project resulted in the selection by Flint Hills Resources of several strains that meet their criteria. After this first success, the second phase is initiated.
Flint Hills Resources continues to provide funding for the program.
Montpellier, may 31, 2017 (18: 30 CEST) – DEINOVE (Alternext Paris : ALDEI), a biotech company that discovers, develops, and produces compounds with high added value from bacteria rare, especially of the genus Déinocoque, has announced the start of the second phase of the R&D programme in animal nutrition involved with FLINT HILLS RESOURCES (FHR) in November 2015.
FLINT HILLS RESOURCES, a subsidiary of KOCH INDUSTRIES – one of the largest private companies in the world, is a leader in the refining, petrochemicals and biofuels in the United States.
The program, initiated in 2015 and funded by FHR, aims to develop a nutritional supplement for animal feed. The first phase of the project has been very positive with the selection from among the library of DEINOVE several strains producing the valuable nutrients.
Scheduled to be completed by the end of 2017, the second stage will aim at :
To produce the additives in sufficient quantity to test for their beneficial effect on the animal species targeted, and analyse the results obtained ;
Optimize the parameters of fermentation ;
Define the terms and conditions techno-economic development of the production process.
On the basis of the tests of effectiveness, it is expected that one or two strains are selected for the stage of industrialization. In case of success, the two partners will be considering the terms of a license agreement for the technology developed during this project for a effective market.
“We are very satisfied with the conduct of this collaborative project and the first results obtained. We look forward to be confirmed by the tests of effectiveness, ” said Kevin GRAY, Director of innovation at FLINT HILLS RESOURCES.
Emmanuel PETIOT, ceo of DEINOVE, said : “The progress of this project strengthens us in our choices : animal nutrition is a growing market and in research and innovations, thanks to the richness and performance of our micro-organisms, our solutions can specifically allow manufacturers to increase the nutritional value of their products. ”
