Convinced of the growing importance of this secure sharing of data, AIG wished to measure the effects on all aspects of our life, in the improvement of our comfort and our security, in the development of the new economy, in terms of efficiency gains…

This report is the third part of a series of publications by AIG on new technologies and the management of risks in the course of the past 18 months. It is the first global study on the economics of data sharing.

This study responds to several objectives :
· to evaluate the perceptions of businesses and consumers sharing data in nine countries (United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Australia, Singapore, Japan, and China) ;
· know what types of data businesses and consumers are willing to share, under what conditions, with whom and when ;
· identify the actors favour the sharing of data, and for what reasons ;
· understand the necessary safeguards for the protection of privacy and the elements “essential” to the proper development of the data sharing.
