While Bercy is working on the privatisation of ADP and Vinci is touted as the favorite to snag the participation that will be put on sale (if sale there is), Vinci Airports, shows his muscles. The subsidiary of Vinci, the operator of the airports, has announced this Thursday, a traffic growth of 12.2% in the third quarter (June-July-September) in the airports in its global network with record attendance during the summer season in most of the platforms it manages.
Best summer season in Portugal
In Portugal, the five airports of the network have performed “far and away their best summer season”, with 16.6 million passengers welcomed between July and September, an increase of 14.7%,” says the group in a press release. This growth is supported by the opening of new lines to Africa and to Britain and the filling rate to be high of low-cost airlines.
In Cambodia, its three airports have jumped 31% thanks to the arrival of new companies and openings of lines as a daily connection between Dubai and Phnom Penh. The capital’s airport has welcomed over one million passengers in the third quarter.
Dynamism in France
In France, the ten platforms operated by the group have seen their traffic grow by nearly 9.9%, with Nantes Atlantic records for the first time the milestone of 5 million passengers over a 12-month rolling period, brought there also by low-cost carriers and the opening of new international routes, according to the group.
The Lyon-Saint Exupéry airport, the traffic is 7.5% growth, thanks in particular to the “rebound in the international traffic outside of Europe, especially to Turkey and North Africa”.
In Chile, the traffic increased 12.6% in Santiago in the third quarter.
Growth also at ADP
Its rival ADP records also results in growth. In September, the parisian airports of Roissy-Charles de Gaulle and Orly airports have registered an increase in traffic of 4.7% in September with an international traffic in strong growth, in particular on the overseas. Since the beginning of the year, the traffic of the two platforms has also recorded an increase of 4.7%, with a total of 77.3 million passengers. In total, 9 million passengers were welcomed in September at the Paris-Charles de Gaulle (6.2 million, +6.7%) and at Orly (2.8 million, +0.4 percent). The international traffic, excluding Europe, jumped up 6.7% driven by the growth in traffic with the departments and communities overseas (+14.4 per cent), Middle East (+10.8 per cent), North America (+8.4 per cent), Africa (+6.4%) and Asia-Pacific (+2.8 per cent). The traffic with Latin America, by contrast, is in the removal of 4.6%.
In Europe (outside France), there is an increase of 4.6% while in France it registers only a weak growth of 0.1%.
More than 100 million passengers by 2017 in Paris
In 2016, the group has welcomed more than 97 million passengers at Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Paris-Orly airports and more than 42 million through airports that it manages overseas. In 2017, it will therefore exceed 100 million passengers welcomed in Paris.
The number of connecting passengers has increased its part of 0.8%.
The traffic of the Turkish group TAV Airports, in which the ADP Group holds for 46.1% of the capital, is an increase of 15.2% in September and 7.8% since the beginning of the year. At the airport of Santiago of Chile, in which the ADP Group owns 45% of the capital, it increased by 13.1% and 10.9% since the beginning of the year.
