The Finance minister, Bruno Le Maire, called on Wednesday to “profoundly rethink” the world trade Organization (WTO) and has defended multilateralism, the two days of the application by the United States of punitive taxes on steel and aluminum.
“We share some concerns expressed, for example, by the United States on the ill-functioning of certain multilateral bodies”, among them the WTO, the minister said during a speech to the OECD. “This organization is necessary and it must be dramatically rethought,”-he said.
