EDVANCE will also take charge of design projects (basic design) and realization (studies, assistance to procurement, installation and commissioning) of the islets in nuclear control and command of the new reactors under construction, in France and internationally.
EDF will own 80% of the share capital of the company and AREVA NP will own 20%. This new entity is created independently of the acquisition by EDF of exclusive control of the “NEW AREVA NP” scheduled for the end of the year 2017.
The creation of EDVANCE reinforces the role of EDF as the leader of the nuclear industry of france. AREVA NP focuses on its core business, namely the boiler. As such, it provides the primary circuit, the equipment, the control command of safety as well as nuclear instrumentation, and it continues to develop its activities on the installed base.
Jean-Bernard Lévy, Chairman and ceo of EDF Group, said : “With the creation of EDVANCE, we are taking a decisive step in the reshaping of the nuclear industry of france. This entity brings together, under a single authority, the skills of EDF and AREVA NP, to design and build the islands nuclear power plants. This approximation will allow our industry to be more efficient in the construction of new nuclear power plants, and thus be more competitive in the international as for domestic programs “.
