Boulogne-Billancourt, may 24, 2017 – The Renault Group has announced the signing of a definitive agreement for the acquisition of the R&D activity French Intel on embedded software”, located on the sites of Toulouse and Sophia-Antipolis in France.
With this acquisition, the Renault Group will have the skill set necessary to strengthen the development of the new generation of embedded software in its vehicles, which are able to provide personalized services, to update remotely, independently and in real time, without the intervention of a third party.

The R&D teams French Intel, whose expertise is recognized in the field of creation and development of software, have solid competitive advantages that are complementary to Renault. They will bring to the Group their expertise, their experience, and their methods and tools, as well as their networks of providers, laboratories, and businesses partners. Some teams have already skill applied to the sector of the automotive industry in the application domain of Multimedia and connectivity.
This acquisition will take place through the purchase by the Renault Group to a newly created company by Intel in which will be transferred the activity of R&D on embedded software, exercised on the sites of Toulouse and Sophia Antipolis in France. This company will be attached to the Engineering department of the Systems Alliance the Renault Group.
The closing of the acquisition remains subject to the usual conditions applicable to this type of operation and should be done by the end of the second quarter of 2017.
