Kalmar celebrates the groundbreaking of a brand new facility in Ljungby

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, broke today on may 24, 2017 officially ground on its new facility in Ljungby. The new business-, innovation – and technology centre in Ljungby will focus on strengthening Kalmar’s expertise in digital business development, research and development, prototypproduktion and testing of mobile equipment and services related to this. The new centre will also create new jobs and business opportunities in southern Sweden, especially in the digitaliseringsområdet.

 

Dan Pettersson, Senior Vice President, Mobile Equipment, Kalmar, said, “This is a very important day and that is the starting point of a new era for Kalmar. This long-term investment helps us to take advantage of the great opportunities that digitaliseringsområdet provides for us to be able to develop our offer further. In order to ensure that we have a leading market position in the future, we gather now our extensive expertise on a common facility, and enhances our way of working on digital business development, nollutsläppsmaskiner and automation.

 

Kalmar has previously launched a digital business development programs in collaboration with the Centre for Information logistics (CIL) and linnaeus university in southern Sweden. “Through open innovation and co-creation, we believe that Kalmar, just like the whole industry, will take part of both new ideas and new approaches that can help the entire value chain during the digitaliseringsresan and increase efficiency. When this facility is completed, we want to use it as our showroom where we take our clients and showcases the latest and most innovative solutions on the market,” concluded Antti Kaunonen, President, Kalmar, during the groundbreaking.
